Niamh Algar and Aisling Bea have both been nominated.
Several Irish talents including Niamh Algar, Aisling Bea, and Denise Gough are among the nominees for the Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards and British Academy Television Craft Awards.

The awards recognise and celebrate the best in television craft and television programmes broadcast in the UK in 2021.

Denise Gough has received her first BAFTA nomination in the Leading Actress category for her performance in ITV legal drama Too Close.

The Irish actress is accompanied by Niamh Algar in the same category, who received her first BAFTA TV nomination for Channel 4 factual drama, Deceit. Algar has previously been nominated for Best Supporting Actress – Film (Calm With Horses) in 2021 and a Breakthrough Brit in 2019.

Aisling Bea has been nominated for Best Female Performance in a Comedy Entertainment Programme for Channel 4’s This Way Up, which is created by Bea. This also marks Bea’s first performance nomination having won Best Breakthrough Talent at the BAFTA TV Awards in 2020.

Graham Norton received two nominations for Comedy Entertainment Performance and Comedy Entertainment Programme for his longstanding hit series, The Graham Norton Show.

The sound team behind Line of Duty, led by five time Emmy winner Ronan Hill, received a nomination in the Best Sound category for the final season of the hit Northern Irish Crime series. Hill told IFTN, “I’m delighted the Sound Team on Line of Duty 6 has received this BAFTA Craft nomination, which is a reflection of the skill, talent and hard work of all involved”.

Richard Ayoade will return to host the ceremony for the third time, as the red carpet event returns to London's Royal Festival Hall on Sunday, 8 May. The Awards will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC One HD, while the BAFTA TV Craft Awards will take place on Sunday, 24 April at The Brewery in London with host details not yet announced.
