Endeavor Content has sold multiple world-wide territories for Element Pictures’hit series Normal People, which premiered on BBC Three; April 26th, BBC One; April 27th, RTE One; April 28th, and on Hulu; April 29th.
The drama is produced by Oscar and BAFTA award-winning production company, Element Pictures and based on Sally Rooney’s New York Times best-selling novel. It tracks the tender, but complicated, relationship of Marianne (Daisy Edgar-Jones) and Connell (Paul Mescal) from the end of their school days in a small-town west of Ireland to their undergraduate years at Trinity College.
Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe, executive producers of Normal People and co-founders of Element Pictures said; “The response from audiences in the UK, Ireland, and the US to Normal People has been overwhelmingly positive. Rights to the series have been purchased for the following territories: Australia (Stan), Canada (CBC), Denmark (DR Denmark), Greece (Fox), Iceland (Siminn), Ireland (RTE), Finland (YLE), New Zealand (TVNZ), Norway, (NRK), Russia and CIS (Yandex), Sweden (SVT), and by Starz for Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, Benelux, Latin America, and Japan.
Adapted by Sally Rooney alongside writers Alice Birch and Mark O’Rowe, Normal People is a 12-episode 30-minute drama series. Normal People is an Element Pictures production (The Favorite, Room, The Lobster, Dublin Murders) for Hulu and BBC Three. The series is executive produced by Ed Guiney (The Favorite, Room, The Lobster, Dublin Murders), Andrew Lowe (The Favorite, Room, The Lobster), Emma Norton (Rosie, A Date for Mad Mary), and Anna Ferguson (No Offense, Prisoners’ Wives) for Element Pictures. Sally Rooney and Lenny Abrahamson also serve as Executive Producers. Lenny Abrahamson directed episodes one through six with Hettie Macdonald directing episodes seven through twelve. Endeavor Content is handling the international distribution.
