The Screen Directors Guild of Ireland has launched the ‘Wash Your Eyes Season 2015’ which took place on Thursday 4th June in the Whiskey Palace upstairs at the Palace Bar on Fleet Street.
Episode One of this year’s series centred around the theme “Adaptation: The Hero’s Journey” and was hosted by Steven Benedict with contributions by the Emmy and IFTA winning director Dearbhla Walsh(‘Roald Dahl’s Esio Trot’, ‘Little Dorrit’, ‘Penny Dreadful’) and renowned writer Malcolm Campbell (‘What Richard Did’, ‘The White Queen’).
The night also hosted an in-depth discussion on the successes and frustrations that occur when trying to adapt a story or novel for the screen.
Writer and contributor Malcolm Campbell said: “It was a real privilege to participate in the first event of the “Wash Your Eyes” season. The venue was perfect, the crowd was incredibly generous, and the discussion was lively and honest. It was a great forum for exchanging experiences, ideas and contacts.”
The “Wash Your Eyes 2015” event ‘Adaptation: The Hero’s Journey’ was sponsored by the BAI.
The following two episodes “The Secret Life of Contracts: Everything creative need to know about legal issues” on Wednesday 1st July and “The Creative Mind: How I tell stories” on Thursday 18th June will also take place at The Whiskey Palace.
