'The Fall' - BBC Northern Ireland’s thriller featuring ‘X-Files’ star Gillian Anderson on the trail of Jamie Dornan’s serial killer - will begin filming season two in Belfast next February, once again supported by NI Screen.
Irish actor Emmet J Scanlan, who plays PSNI officer Glen Martin in the series, announced the series’ schedule of returning to principal photography on Twitter, expressing his excitement in suitably colourful language.
Mr Scanlan, who earned a nomination for the IFTA Rising Star award last year, is best known for playing Brendan Brady on ‘Hollyoaks’ and for his starring role in ‘Charlie Casanova’, produced by Source Productions.
Along with Belfast actor Jamie Dornan, several Irish cast members appear in ‘The Fall’ including Simon Delaney (‘Bachelor’s Walk’, ‘Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa’); Séainín Brennan (‘Wild’, ‘Hidden’), Michael McElhatton (‘Game of Thrones’, ‘Ripper Street’); Ian McElhinney (‘Game of Thrones’, ‘Titanic: Blood and Steel’); Niamh McGrady (‘Holby City’, ‘Upstairs Downstairs’) and John Lynch (‘Sliding Doors’, ‘Merlin’); Gerard McCarthy (‘Vikings’, ‘A Nightingale Falling’).
Created and written by Allan Cubitt ('Murphy's Law'), ‘The Fall’ is an Artists Studio/BBC Northern Ireland co-production and is now available to view on US Netflix.
The first series debuted with the highest ratings for a drama series on BBC Two in eight years, fast-tracking the early decision to commission a second season.
