Trinity College Dublin is the leading university on the island of Ireland – ranked 25th in Europe and 78th in the World (Times Higher Educational Supplement global rankings 2006).
Drama and theatre studies combine elements of literary, cultural, historical and sociological studies with a practical understanding of the various performing arts. The strong developmental emphasis of courses requires a particular blend of both practical and academic skills, and this often results in a relatively high number of contact hours.
Courses include:
Undergraduate
Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Drama and Theatre Studies (single honor)
Bachelor in Arts (BA) in Drama Studies and another subject (joint honor)
For students (local access only)
Postgraduate
Master in Philosophy (M.Phil.) in Theatre and Performance
Master in Letters (M.Litt.) and Doctor in Philosophy (Ph.D)
Students are expected to have nothing less than total commitment to the subject. The aim is to explore the relationship between the theory and the practice of theatre, to discover how and why theatre works.
