Irish actress Jenn Murray has become the latest actor to join the cast of the upcoming ‘Maleficent 2’ starring Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning.
Murray is set to co-star alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Ed Skrein who have joined the second instalment of the Walt Disney box office hit. ‘Maleficent’ recorded over $758.5 million worldwide, breaking a number of box office records on its way.
Joe Roth will produce the film under his Roth Films banner, Linda Woolverton and Jez Butterworth combined to write the script, while Joachim Ronning (‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’) will direct the sequel.
No information has been released regarding Murray’s character with fans uncertain as to where the film will pick up from following the original, which was based on the classic fairy tale ‘Sleeping Beauty’. The original story centred on an evil fairy who cursed an infant princess to eternal sleep, only to realize the young girl was the only one who could save the kingdom from its dangerous ruler.
Jenn Murray is best known for her recent roles in J.K.Rowling’s ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’, Whit Stillman’s ‘Love & Friendship’, and John Crowley’s ‘Brooklyn’, which has seen her star alongside Eddie Redmayne, Kate Beckinsale, Colin Farrell, and Saoirse Ronan.
Murray received an IFTA nomination for ‘Best Actress in a Leading Role –Film’ in 2009 for her performance in Agnés Merlet’s horror drama ‘Dorothy Mills.
