Animation Ireland Members have been generous in their congratulations to Cartoon Saloon, but there is general disappointment that Irish animation did not receive more nominations
The inaugural European Animation Awards take place on December 8th 2017 in Lille France. Nominated from Ireland is Cartoon Saloon’s ‘Puffin Rock’, which is nominated for ‘Best Background and Character Design in a TV/Broadcast Production.
Darragh O’Connell, Co-founder of Brown Bag Films and Creative Director for 9Story, tweeted his congratulations, but said “disappointed at only one nom for all of IRELAND? Don’t feel it represents the vibrancy of industry here...”
The Emile Awards Ceremony will be followed by the European premiere of 'The Breadwinner' from Nora Twomey, the co-director of 'The Secret of Kells'. Voting for the awards is open until 30th November.
