Troy Studios a key site in Limerick Twenty Thirty €500M plan
22 Sep 2016 : Katie McNeice
The new entity which was launched earlier this week is the biggest single Irish commercial property development programme undertaken outside Dublin.

The new 340,000 sq ft Troy Studios Castleroy is one of four sites to which the company will endeavour to attract €500M of investment, as part of a larger programme throughout the city and county of Limerick.

Limerick City & County Council Chief Executive Conn Murray has described the launch as a pivotal day for Limerick, which will bring the county up to a standard, not only to compete with those within Ireland, but on a European stage.

Speakers at the launch have emphasised the benefits the studio present to Ireland’s film and television industry, as it expands upon the existing capacity of Ardmore Studios and will develop Ireland’s reputation for handling large productions abroad.

Denis Brosnan, Executive Chairman of Limerick Twenty Thirty:
“It started with Troy Studios. We saw an opportunity where Ardmore didn’t have much more capacity for filmmaking and the opportunity was there to turn that old facility into a major studio.”

Niall O’Callaghan of IDA Mid West has described the additional infrastructures as an opportunity to attract foreign direct investment companies to the county but also to the wider midwest region, with Limerick established as a hub.

Siún Ní Raghallaigh, Ardmore Studios CEO stated earlier this year:
“The availability of appropriate full service studio space in the country is a restraining factor for Ireland’s audio visual sector’s growth. The establishment of Troy Studios will assist Ireland take advantage of the 30% growth in global creative audio visual content predicted for the next five years. Troy Studios will add 70,000 sq. feet of studio space to the existing 110,000 sq. feet of sound studio space that already exists in Ireland."

The other three sites include the Gardens International Office, Rutland street Opera Site and Cleeves Riverside Campus.

Screen Training Ireland, the Irish Film Board and Troy Studios are hosting an open day to potential filmmakers on Saturday, October 15th.
