Ronan & Farrell Find ‘The Way Back’

12 Jan 2009 : Hollywood Reporter
Saoirse Ronan
Irish actors Colin Farrell (In Bruges) and Saoirse Ronan (Death Defying Acts) are set to star in ‘The Way Back’, a WWII drama to be directed by Peter Weir (Master and Commander).

The film is based on the memoir by Slavomir Rawicz about a group of soldiers trying to escape from a Siberian labor camp during World War II. US actors Ed Harris (Appaloosa) and Jim Sturgess (21) are also set to star in the film which is due to begin production in March in Bulgaria.

Both Farrell and Ronan have been nominated for this year’s IFTA Awards. Farrell is up for the Best Lead Actor for ‘In Bruges’ while Ronan has dual nomination in both acting categories for City of Ember (Lead Role) and Death Defying Acts (Supporting Role).

Farrell has also received a Golden Globe for his performance in ‘In Bruges’ and Saoirse Ronan just starred in the Peter Jackson-directed ‘The Lovely Bones’.
