As part of its ongoing restructure, RTÉ today announced some key appointments in the Content and Audience, Channels and Marketing areas following recent external competitions.
The new appointments included:
Deputy Director of Content, RTÉ
Niamh O'Connor has been appointed as Deputy Director of Content. A member of the RTÉ Editorial Standards Board, Niamh has a wealth of senior editorial experience across multiple genres. A former Producer/Director of Prime Time, Niamh has been Head of Factual since 2009, overseeing the delivery of high-impact and editorially sensitive output. Reporting to the Director of Content, Niamh will work with the Group Heads, Content, to commission and oversee the development and delivery of programmes, both in-house and commissioned, across RTÉ radio, television and online. Niamh will take up the role next month.
Group Head of Entertainment and Music, RTÉ
John McHugh has been appointed as Group Head of Entertainment and Music, RTÉ and begins the role this week. John has a proven track record in commissioning and producing engaging, high-quality entertainment programming with over twenty year’s experience in Ireland and the UK. John has held senior commissioning positions in the BBC and Channel 4, and served as Chief Executive of Tyrone Productions for five years. As Group Head of Entertainment and Music, RTÉ, John will have responsibility for the development and management of RTÉ’s entertainment and music output across television, radio and online (excluding RTÉ’s Orchestras, Choirs and Quartets and RTÉ lyric fm).
Head of Audience Insights, RTÉ
Paul Loughrey will immediately take up the role of Head of Audience Insights for the newly formed Audiences, Channels and Marketing area. Paul is currently Head of Audience and Insights, Television, having previously worked as Research and B2B Marketing manager for the division. Putting the audience at the heart of RTE's decision making, the focus will be on delivering inspirational, high-quality research and insights to drive editorial and marketing decision making across the RTÉ portfolio of channels and services.
