'Amber' New Four-part RTÉ Drama in Development
12 Apr 2011 :
Paul Duane filming Very Extremely Dangerous
Screenworks is currently in development with a 4 x 52 minute drama for RTÉ entitled ‘Amber’. Written by Rob Cawley (Lovesick) and Gary Duggan the drama examines a disappearance case from the point of view of four different characters.

The feature is set to go in to pre-production in February 2012 and it is expected that it will shoot in and around Dublin city for eight weeks in March and April 2012. No director has yet been confirmed for the project.

Produced by Screenworks’ Rob Cawley and Paul Duane (Barbatic Genius), the four-part drama series will centre around Amber, a young girl who disappears. Each episode of the series will be shot from the point of view of an individual who is connected to the case – family, friends and members of an Garda Siochana etc.

Further cast and crew members have not yet been confirmed but producer, Paul Duane tells IFTN that he wants to cast ”new faces”.

The drama’s budget is also TBC but ‘Amber’ was awarded €550,000 in the most recent round of funding from the BAI’s Sound and Vision fund.

Screenworks are currently putting the finishing touches on ‘Very Extremely Dangerous’, a feature doc examining the life and work of bankrobber and songwriter, Jerry McGill. Director and producer of the project is Paul Duane with director of photography, John T Davis (The Boys of St Columb’s). The feature is being edited in Screenworks by Colm O’Brien (Barbaric Genius). Once completed, the doc is to be submitted to major festivals and is to premiere in September of this year.
