Arcadian, a post-apocalyptic thriller led by Nicolas Cage and shot in Ireland, will be distributed in Irish & UK cinemas by Vertigo Releasing from June 14th.
Production on Arcadian took place in Ireland in 2022, reportedly shooting in Ardmore Studios and on location in the Greater Dublin Area. During production, the film was titled ‘Sand and Stones’. The film stars Nicolas Cage (The Surfer), Jaeden Martell (It), Maxwell Jenkins (Lost in Space) and Sadie Soverall (Fate: The Winx Saga).
Arcadian is a post-apocalyptic thriller that follows a father (Cage) and his twin teenage sons (Martell, Jenkins) who fight to survive in a remote farmhouse.
Benjamin Brewer, who worked on the VFX for the 2023 Academy Award Best Picture winner Everything Everywhere All at Once, directed the film from a screenplay by Mike Nilon (Braven). Cinematographer Frank Mobilio had this to say about working with the Irish crew members, speaking on his social media:
“It truly felt like we could do anything with the amount of talent in front of and behind the camera. Everyone seriously brought it and contributed to making this a very special film despite the rugged conditions and breakneck pace.”
Irish crew members included costume designer Gwen Jeffares Hourie, who was nominated for an IFTA for her work on Double Blind earlier this year, as well as being featured on Variety’s 10 Rising Irish Stars Behind the Camera.
Vertigo Releasing will distribute Arcadian in Irish & UK cinemas from June 14th.
