Screen Ireland has published the guidelines for the CA$150,000 co-development funding scheme between Screen Ireland and Creative BC, which was announce in May.
This is the first international co-development fund of its kind in Western Canada with each partner contributing $75,000 toward the total $150,000 fund.
Following a successful Trade Mission and furthering the successful relationship with Canada, Screen Ireland and Creative BC (British Columbia (BC), Vancouver) have entered into a relationship to co-develop a number of film and television projects. This co-development will enable up to four projects access development finance from both territories.
Speaking about the deal in the announcement in May, Prem Gill, CEO of Creative BC said:
“Originating through a trade mission to Ireland in November 2016, our funding partnership has grown from a successful pilot program in 2017 to this new funding program agreement in 2018.” “Creative BC is proud to partner with the Irish Film Board on this collaboration that will support BC’s domestic creators’ to leverage their expertise internationally and develop external networks.”
The intent of this financing is to foster film and television production between Irish producers and producers based in the BC area. The total value of the funding available is CA$150,000*. The maximum amount available to any one project is CA$40,000 and funding will be allocated on a 50/50 basis from both agencies.
Projects require the involvement of both an Irish resident producer(s) and a BC resident producer(s). Applicants will first need to apply to Screen Ireland with their project. If approved, an application will then need to be made to Creative BC by the BC resident producer(s).
