Growing Talent in Visual Effects - Screen Scene VFX Launch 5th Visual Effects Internship
13 Jul 2018 :
This year SSVFX will partner with Screen Training Ireland to introduce four individuals to the industry.

SSVFX began the first internship in 2012 and over the years have nurtured & developed a growing local talent base.

The success of the Internship has helped generate a talent pool of Irish based artists to support the continued growth in the Irish industry and the resulting increase in demand for artists. Many of the previous graduates still work within SSVFX or other Irish facilities. Whilst others have moved to VFX companies in the UK, America or Canada.

“Our internships have produced a fantastic group of artists to the company & industry over the years” states Ed Bruce, SSVFX’s Visual Effects Supervisor. “It is very important to create opportunities for local talent to grow into our craft. The past graduates of our program have become a key and integral part of our development and successes. Long may that continue!”.

The internship runs for a 35 week period and offers internships for the following four individuals whom were selected from over 50 applicants;

Connor Cain

Piers Larchet

Emma Brady

Vita Medelyte

All SSVFX’s interns will receive a salary whilst training in VFX software & SSVFX’s Pipeline & Workflows gaining valuable studio experience and an introduction to the industry.

The program will also give them the opportunity to work with the SSVFX team on current & up and coming projects.

“Screen Scene has a long history of giving opportunity & nurturing talent. We’re delighted to continue our VFX Internship for a 5th time”. said Jake Walshe, Screen Scene’s Managing Director. “Over 20 people are now working in the Irish VFX industry after completing our past VFX programs”.

Screen Scene VFX has recently completed work on Season 1 of Lost in Space for Netflix / Legendary, Lenny Abrahamson’s The Little Stranger & Yorgos Lanthimos’s The Favourite, and SSVFX are currently working on various projects including the final season of Game of Thrones.
