Ryan Lincoln & Leah Minto Join James Phelan's Table Reading of 'Memory Bank'
17 May 2018 : Nathan Griffin
Two of Ireland’s top young acting talent have joined James Phelan’s upcoming table reading of ‘Memory Bank’ in Dun Laoghaire this Saturday, May 19th. Ryan Lincoln (‘Kissing Candice’, ‘Cardboard Gangsters’) and Leah Minto (‘Dublin Oldschool’, ‘Red Rock’) have been added to an already impressive cast for James Phelan’s upcoming event.

On the evening of Saturday May 19th, a rare opportunity to see a nascent film project is available at the Lexicon theatre studio in Dun Laoghaire with a table read of an original screenplay by dlr LexIcon writer in residence, James Phelan.

This event will feature established actors bringing this futuristic thriller from the page onto the studio stage for a rehearsed reading.

The feature script is a first draft of the project IFTA winning screenwriter James Phelan (‘Wrecking the Rising’/’Striking Out’) was commissioned to write during his residency year.

‘Memory Bank’ is set in Ireland in 2060 where a female detective trades in shared memory to solve crimes. As she investigates the company behind the new technology, old ghosts and secrets rise from her past to threaten her future.

Confirmed cast include Lesley Conroy (‘Life’s a Breeze’), Carrie Crowley (‘Rasai na Gaillimhe’), Don Wycherley (‘Sing Street’), Sean T O Meallaigh (‘Wrecking the Rising’), Paddy C Courtney (‘Bridget & Eamon’) and Eamonn Hunt (‘Scup’).

Tickets are available for free via this link but are limited and must be booked in advance – here.

The organisers ask to bear in mind when booking that the finished film would most likely have either a 16 or 18 age classification.

James most recently hosted an evening on the Future of Irish Animation at the Lexicon. He has also recorded a series of podcasts on the writing of an original short film ‘Talking Trash’ during the residency.

‘Contra’ a short film he wrote and directed is also embarking on the festival circuit.  Starring Sean T O Meallaigh and Frank Blake, this project is also in a futuristic vein depicting an aggressively puritanical Irish society where an innocuous everyday powder is arbitrarily outlawed.
