Beating the BBC’s Planet Earth 2 and a host of the finest wildlife films of the year, Director’s John Murray and Cepa Giblin said they were stunned and humbled in equal measure to bring home the award.

Held at London’s South Bank last Monday 6th Nov, the Grierson’s celebrate the best documentary and factual programmes screened in the UK over the last 12 months. Murray and Giblin paid tribute to the wonderful team behind the series particularly the principal cameraman Domenico Pontillo from Kerry, the series host Colin Stafford Johnson and the many others who worked so hard on the project.

Wild Ireland was made in partnership with the BBC, ORF, NDR, France TV, Creative Europe and with TG4 who hosted an Irish language version of the series presented by Eoin Warner.
