The casting of the ‘The Autopsy of Jane Doe’ and ‘Into the Wild’ actor in the upcoming film noir has been announced by Park Films, with further updates on the production team to be revealed this month.
‘The Disassembled Man’ is set to be directed by Ivan Kavanagh (The Canal) with a screenplay from Ethan Goldman, based on the acclaimed 2015 novel of the same title from Jon Bassoff.
Hirsch will play leading man Frankie Avicious, a hard-luck guy with a sordid past. Living in a dreary meatpacking town, stuck in a loveless marriage and spending his days slaughtering cattle, Frankie has nothing to look forward to but his next swallow of bargain whiskey. His wife is threatening to leave him, and the local sociopath is threatening to kill him.
He also can’t stop thinking about Scarlett Acres, a stripper with a heart of fool’s gold. With the encouragement of a mysterious travelling salesman, Frankie sets out to reverse his destiny through a series of bizarre murders.
Producer AnneMarie Naughton (The Canal) of Park Films describes the film as a commercial project which is full of atmosphere & tension, with a fair whack of jet black humour.
Ivan Kavanagh, Director:
“I am very excited about working with Emile, who was the first actor I thought of when I read Jon Bassoff’s incredible book. ‘The Disassembled Man’ will be a wild, blackly comic journey, into the dark side of the American dream.”
