There have been fifteen slates awarded to twelve Irish companies since Media came under the Creative Europe Programme in 2014, with a total of €2,484,737 allocated.
Companies which have received funding twice in this time are: Fastnet Films, Treasure Entertainment and Crossing The Line Productions.
Recent film projects which have boasted great success at home and abroad include ‘The Lobster’ (Element Pictures); Viva (Treasure Entertainment); and the upcoming John Butler’s ‘Handsome Devil’, also from Treasure, which has yet to release to cinemas but has recently been announced to be screened at the opening gala night of the Glasgow Film Festival on the 15th February. ‘Handsome Devil’ will have its Irish premiere at the ADIFF’s Closing Night Gala in the Savoy, Dublin on the 26th February.
Jim Sheridan’s ‘The Secret Scripture’ from Ferndale Films and ‘The Killing of a Sacred Deer’ (Element Pictures) are also slate funded projects that are yet to be released, while television projects include ‘Kiva Can Do’ (Kavaleer) and ‘Becca's Bunch’ (JAM Media).
