The closing date for RTÉ One and RTÉ2 Format Farm project is this Friday 27th March.

Format Farm is an established RTÉ business initiative to support the production and broadcast of original TV formats for both Irish audiences and export. To date Format Farm has delivered original TV formats including ‘The Takeover’, ‘The Hit’ and ‘Whose Holiday Is It Anyway?’

Irish producers have worked with some of the biggest names in international distribution to generate successful series which features some of the biggest talents in Irish broadcasting.

Janet Frawley, Head of Formats, RTÉ Global said: ‘Farm has proven to be an innovative and exciting way of generating new Irish TV series for viewers. RTÉ and the production companies also partner with the biggest TV distributors which helps bring these new formats to different markets around the world. Already ‘The Takeover’ (Toto Productions) has been commissioned by Channel 4 and ‘The Hit’ (VIP Productions) has been sold in several territories proving that this process works. We’re calling on anyone who thinks they have a great idea for a new pilot to submit it by this Friday 27 March 2015.’

To submit your new idea you will need to go through the e-commissioning process and identify this as a Format Farm submission. All ideas will be reviewed by the relevant genre head for consideration and they will make recommendations to the RTÉ One and RTÉ2 channel controllers. The channel controllers will seek input from RTÉ Global for a view on the international potential of the recommended ideas.

The RTÉ channel controllers will then make their final selection for four pilots from the Format Farm ideas that have received matched funds.

Pilots will be broadcast in 2015.
