Jedward Bounce Up to Northern Ireland To Film CBBC Show ‘Dani’s Castle’
27 Jul 2012 : By Eva Hall
Jedward
Irish popstars Jedward are to appear in upcoming CBBC series ‘Dani’s Castle’, which is currently filming at Killyleagh Castle in Downpatrick, Co Down.

The Dublin-born twins will play themselves on the children’s TV show, which is a spin-off to the hugely popular ‘Dani’s House’, which ran on CBBC for five seasons. The series was also broadcast on RTÉ.

Dez McCarthy (The Legend of Dick and Dom) is directing the 13 half-hour episodes which follow ‘Dani’s House’ star Dani Harmer, a 17 year-old actress and singer, played by the real-life Dani Harmer.

Harmer previously starred in ‘The Story of Tracy Beaker’ and ‘After You’ve Gone’. ‘Dani’s Castle’ sees the character move into a haunted castle with a number of new characters expected to be introduced to the new series.

Zodiak Kids’ UK-based production company The Foundation is heading the Paul Rose-penned production. Paul McKenzie (Sadie J) is producing, while The Foundation’s Elaine Sperber and CBBC’s Melissa Hardinge are the executive producers.

Jedward, who shot to fame when Irish music manager Louis Walsh selected them for TV3 reality show ‘X Factor’, already have their own show on RTÉ, ‘OMG! Jedward’s Dream Factory’, which has been given the green light for a second series.

‘Dani’s Castle’ is the latest in a long line of BBC shows to film in the north, with ‘Game of Thrones’ currently using Shane’s Castle estate to film season three, Charles Dickens adaptation ‘The Life and Adventures of Nick Nickleby’ currently in production, and period drama ‘Blandings’ and thriller ‘The Fall’ having recently wrapped in Fermanagh and Belfast.

The Lucan duo are also rumoured to be joining this year’s ‘Dancing on Ice’, where they will compete separately for the first time in their careers.

Jedward’s scenes in ‘Dani’s Castle’ will be aired later this year.
