TG4 Series ‘An Crisis’ To Complete Shooting Series Two in Brussels
14 Jun 2012 : By Eva Hall
Charlie McCarthy
Production on series two of TG4 mini-series ‘An Crisis’ is moving to Brussels next week following a successful five-week shoot in Dublin.

Dublin’s Wildfire Films is producing series two of the Irish-language comedy for TG4, with many of the same cast and crew from season one returning.

IFTA Award-winning director Charlie McCarthy, of RTÉ mini-series ‘Pure Mule’, will take the director’s seat once again, while Martha O’Neill is producing, with Rory Lorton the associate producer, both for Wildfire.

RTÉ presenter and Gaeilgeoir Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh will play the lead role of Commissioner of Culture, Heritage, Multillingualism and Climate Action, Maeve Kelly Clarke. Many of the cast from series one are expected to reprise their roles, including Conor MacNeill (Saving the Titanic) and Donncha Crowley (Titanic: Blood and Steel/The Runway).

Other central cast members include Norma Sheahan, Helen Norton and Jamie O'Neill, with supporting roles from Michelle Beamish, Kate Nic Chonaonaigh, Mark Lambert, Denis Conway and Frankie McCafferty.

The new series, renamed ‘An Crisis Eile’, depicts life in the European Commission, where Ní Chofaigh's character relaunches her career in her new role as Commsisioner.

Egg post-house will look after post-production when the six-week shoot wraps in Brussels. Kevin Lavelle will edit the series.

The mini-series was funded by TG4, the BAI and benefited from Section 481. Series two is expected to air on TG4 later this year.
