Northern Irish actor turned writer/director Antonia Campbell-Hughes and the cast & crew of Irish film It is in Us All received a Special Jury Recognition for Extraordinary Cinematic Vision following the film’s world premiere at SXSW in Austin, Texas.

“Every creative element of It Is In Us All, from its editing and music to its performances and cinematography, works in tandem to craft a haunting atmosphere,” the jury said, when speaking about the film last week. “Writer-director-actor Antonia Campbell-Hughes’ extraordinary feature debut is a remarkable example of how the various artistic facets of a movie can converge to create something cinematic, in the purest and most soulful sense: a work that accesses some part of you that feels hidden away.”

The dramatic feature debut by Antonia Campbell has also received positive reviews across all online platforms since its premiere. Collider editor Maggie Lovitt wrote “It Is In Us All is the kind of movie you make time to see at a film festival. It’s reverential, haunting, and it will loom over you like a dark cloud once the credits roll”. Film Threat film critic, Bobby LePire wrote, “The first thing anyone watching It Is In Us All will notice is how bloody great-looking it is”. From its cinematography and music score, to its writing and casting, Campbell is applauded for “articulating the terrifying but seductive ‘it’ that is, indeed, in all of us.” – Deadline editor Damon Wise.

Written and directed by Antonia Campbell-Hughes, It Is In Us All stars Cosmo Jarvis and Rhys Mannion. The film tells the story of a formidable man who cares for nothing, who is forced to confront his self-destructive core when a violent car crash involving a sexually charged boy who epitomises life, challenges him to face his truth.

It Is In Us All is produced by Emma Foley, Tamryn Reinecke, and Conor Barry for Pale Rebel Productions and Savage Productions. The film was funded through Screen Ireland’s POV scheme for female filmmakers, aiming to foster distinct Irish female voices through the development and production of a low-budget feature film. It Is In Us All was filmed in Co. Donegal and is Antonia Campbell-Hughes' first feature film as a director.

It Is In Us All is expected to release in cinemas later this year.
