‘Merlin’ actor Tom Hopper will shoot his final scenes of Irish feature film ‘Cold’ this week, on locations in Dublin and Clare.
English actor Hopper is starring alongside Irish rising star Jack Reynor, who shot his scenes during the first block of filming last August. Reynor is currently on location in New York shooting his first big-budget feature, the details of which are being kept under wraps.
Filming on ‘Cold’ is scheduled to wrap on Friday October 19, with Irish actor Liam Carney (Titanic: Blood and Steel) and ‘Hollyoaks’ actress Helen Pearson also present.
Irish actor and director Eoin Macken is helming the feature, which has been described as a “dark drama” where two estranged brothers reunite at their father’s funeral. When a strange girl enters their lives, the brothers are torn apart again, forced to find their own resolutions to the strange happenings around them.
Macken wrote, produced and directed the film under his Blank Canvas Pictures, and will appear alongside the remaining cast, made up of Rebecca Night (Starlings), Tony Murphy (Charlie Casanova), Brian Fortune (Game of Thrones), Melia Kreiling (The Borgias), Charlotte Atkinson (Neverland) and Yare Michael Jegbefume (Neverland).
Eimear Ennis Graham (Stalker) is currently shooting ‘Cold’ with Macken.
Macken celebrated his directorial debut last August with horror film ‘The Inside’, which received its world premiere at Film Four’s Frightfest. He worked as cinematographer on Terry McMahon’s ‘Charlie Casanova’ and Mark O’Connor’s ‘Stalker’. His acting credits include Michael Hirst’s period drama ‘The Tudors’ and BBC series ‘Merlin’.
His ‘Merlin’ co-star Hopper has just been named as the lead in Michael Bay’s ‘Treasure Island’ prequel series ‘Black Sails’, while Reynor has recently wrapped Lenny Abrahamson feature ‘What Richard Did’ and Kirsten Sheridan’s ‘Dollhouse’.
Additional crew on ‘Cold’ includes line producer Steven Daly (Paddies in the Boot), 1st AD Aoiffe Hewson (Stitches), sound recordist Henry Milliner (The Wedding Video), focus puller Barry Doyle, camera assistant Tess Masero, head gaffer Alec Moore, still photographer Tim McDonnell and Conor Barry as executive producer.
Vicky Tooms (Mrs Biggs, Poirot) will edit in post-production, with Chips Paul (Merlin) looking after sound, and The Evora, Greg French and Kevin Whyms in charge of music.
The film is scheduled for completion in early 2013.
