The new awards which total €20,000 each bring the total awards offered by the council to ten, and will be awarded at the co-production markets of San Sebastian Film Festival, Transilvania International Film Festival and Cartoon Movie.
Projects should be designed from the outset for cinema release, and which have been initiated by a lead producer based in a Eurimages country willing to cooperate with other partners internationally.
The lead producer should aim to involve at least one other producer from a Eurimages country. The award, which takes the form of a non-reimbursable subsidy, must be used by the producers to cover development expenses of the project.
To be eligible, projects must be selected by Cartoon Movie, the Europe-Latin America Co-Production Forum of San Sebastian Film Festival and the Transilvania Pitch Stop (TPS) initiative of the Transilvania International Film Festival in Romania.
The Eurimages Co-production Development Award is currently presented in the coproduction of the Rotterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, Sarajevo, Rome, Amsterdam (Cinekid) and Tallinn (Baltic Event) film festivals.
