Official Trailer Released For Anthony Byrne & Natalie Dormer's New Thriller 'In Darkness'
17 Apr 2018 : Nathan Griffin
The official trailer for Irish director Anthony Byrne’s new film ‘In Darkness’ staring Natalie Dormer has been released. The script, which has been over half a decade in the making was co-written by partners Byrne & Dormer, and will be released in cinemas this summer.

The film boasts a seasoned cast of Ed Skrein (‘Transporter’, ‘Game Of Thrones’), Natalie Dormer (‘Game Of Thrones’, ‘Hunger Games’), Joely Richardson (‘Nip/Tuck, Emerald City’), James Cosmo (‘Braveheart’, ‘Troy’), Jan Bijvoet (‘Peaky Blinders’), and Emily Ratakowski (‘Gone Girl’).

'In Darkness' follows blind pianist Sofia (Dormer) who overhears a struggle in the apartment above hers that leads to the death of her neighbor Veronique (Ratajkowski). It is the start of a journey that pulls Sofia out of her depth and brings her into contact with Veronique’s father, Milos Radic (Jan Bijvoet), a Serbian businessman accused of being a war criminal. Sofia is drawn into a dangerous world of corruption, investigating police, hitmen and the Russian mafia -- a world with links to Sofia’s own hidden past and a path of revenge she has kept hidden until now.

Speaking about the project, director & co-writter Anthony Byrne told IFTN:

“We’re both thrilled the trailer is out. The response has been incredibly positive. It’s been quite a journey making ‘In Darkness’. Getting anything made in this business is always difficult, especially an indie film so to get this kind of exposure is huge. We’re very proud of the film and the creative partners we made it with.

Universal came up with a really great trailer and the poster which will follow shortly is very classy. It might sound strange to talk about a trailer and poster but they are hugely important steps in introducing people to the film and the world of the film, so it’s been great to have that input in how the film is presented across all platforms.”

No official Irish release date has been announce as of yet, but the film is expected to be in cinemas this summer.
