‘Garage’ the second feature from director Lenny Abrahamson and writer Mark O’Halloran has picked up the CICAE Art and Essai Cinema Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. ‘Garage’ screened as part of the Directors’ Fortnight sidebar at the prestigious French festival.

The Irish Film Censor's Office reports over 10,000 films and DVD/Videos were certified in Ireland during 2006, approx three times the number certified in 1999. A new comedy drama, ‘Billy Goat’, begins shooting in Northern Ireland this month. The BBC1 production is the first of four dramas written by contemporary screenwriters, as part of a modern anthology of fairy tales. Actors Bernard Hill, Paul Nicholls, Mathew Horne and Sarah Smart will star. more |

‘Cré na Cille’ Makes Shanghai Festival Shortlist
The Irish language feature film ‘Cré na Cille’ has been selected for screening at the Shanghai International Film Festival (12 – 24 June 2007). Directed by Robert Quinn, the film has been selected as one of 16 international films for the highly prestigious Jin- Jue Award.
