 Cannes Prize For Lenny Abrahamson’s ‘Garage’
‘Garage’ the second feature from director Lenny Abrahamson and writer Mark O’Halloran has picked up the CICAE Art and Essai Cinema Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. ‘Garage’ screened as part of the Directors’ Fortnight sidebar at the prestigious French festival. more
 Irish Film Censor Publishes Annual Report
The Irish Film Censor's Office reports over 10,000 films and DVD/Videos were certified in Ireland during 2006, approx three times the number certified in 1999. The report also publishes findings of two recent surveys carried out; on the use of strong language in films and the new challenges faced in the digital age. more
 BBC1’s ‘Billy Goat’ Begins Northern Ireland Shoot
A new comedy drama, ‘Billy Goat’, begins shooting in Northern Ireland this month. The BBC1 production is the first of four dramas written by contemporary screenwriters, as part of a modern anthology of fairy tales. Actors Bernard Hill, Paul Nicholls, Mathew Horne and Sarah Smart will star.  more
 Twelve Irish Shorts Compete For Diversions Title
The twelve nominated short films competing for the 2007 Diversions Short Film Award have been announced. Included in the lineup is IFTA winning short ‘Joyriders’, festival favourite ‘the Faeries of Blachkheath Woods’ and Ruairi Robinson’s futuristic short ‘The Silent City’. more

‘Cré na Cille’ Makes Shanghai Festival Shortlist
The Irish language feature film ‘Cré na Cille’ has been selected for screening at the Shanghai International Film Festival (12 – 24 June 2007). Directed by Robert Quinn, the film has been selected as one of 16 international films for the highly prestigious Jin- Jue Award. more

New York City’s Manhattan Short Film Festival has issued its final call for entries from Irish filmmakers who wish to represent Ireland in the 10th annual Festival. more

IFTA Academy Hosts ‘Strength & Honour’ Preview
The Irish Film & Television Academy will present the first Irish screening of Mark Mahon’s ‘Strength & Honour’ at a special preview screening for Academy members in Dublin next week. Writer/director Mark Mahon and actors Gail Fitzpatrick, Finbar Furey and Michael Rawley will participate in a post screening Q&A. more
Sideline Seeks Young Performers For ‘Class Act’
Sideline Productions have revealed details of their new entertainment series for RTÉ entitled ‘Class Act’. Producers are seeking young people, aged 13 – 17 years old, with a talent in the performing arts to participate in the show and compete for a €10,000 bursary prize. more
