Griffith College to Host Seminars On Copyright

Griffith College Dublin is accepting applications for a five-week seminar on copyright for artists beginning on May 28 and ending on June 30.

The copyright and intellectual property course will be delivered by David Langwallner, who is an expert barrister in the arts sector. The seminars will deal with protecting the artist’s work, revenue and ensuring that they receive a comprehensive understanding of the tricky area of contracts and copyright law in general.

The two-hour evening classes will begin at 6pm on Monday May 28 and will run over a number of Monday and Wednesday evenings, as well as some Saturday mornings. The full list of dates are May 28, 30, June 6, 11, 13, 18,20, 23, 25, 27, 30.

Topics that will be covered included literary copyright, musical and dramatic copyright, neighbouring rights, analysis of film copyright and underlying copyrights, infringement and special cases

Lecturer David Langwallner is a noted music and art copyright expert. A graduate of Trinity College Dublin Law School and the Honorable Society of King's Inns, Dublin, Langwallner and was called to the Irish Bar in 1991. He has also practiced law in England and Wales and was awarded LL.M from Harvard in 1998.

This series of Seminars has been developed by the Griffith College Law Faculty in consultation with top arts industry lawyers..
