Free event on How to get a Job in Film at Filmbase

The event will see a panel of film experts talking about how to get into the business
How to get a Job in Film is a free information session on Thursday 9th April, 7pm until 9pm.

The event will see a panel of film experts, including Irish producer of U.S-originated feature films and television drama, Morgan O’Sullivan. O’Sullivan’s recent credits include ‘Vikings’, ‘Camelot’, and ‘The Tudors’. He will be joined by cinematographer David Grennan, who’s worked on ‘Eamon’, ‘Kisses’ and ‘What Richard Did’. Grennan was nominated by IFTA for the Director of Photography award for ‘What Richard Did’.

BAFTA and ACE winning editor, Tony Craunston will also be attending; his credits include ‘Perrier’s Bounty’, ‘Amber’, ‘Love Rosie’ and ‘The Death of a Superhero’.

Noel Quinn, an Emmy-nominated Sound Recordist, has worked on feature films, documentaries, and commercials in a number of countries worldwide, and has lectured extensively on the topic. His body of work includes ‘Michael Collins’, ‘Reign of Fire’, and ‘The Butcher Boy’. Stunt Coordinator, Joe Condren is a member of Stunt Register Ireland which was set up to regulate and actively promote Irish Stunt Professionals. He is known for his work on ‘King Arthur’, ‘In America’, ‘Calvary’, ‘Foyle’s War’ and ‘Moone Boy’.

Graphic designer Paul Brady started working in the movie industry as a storyboard and conceptual artist for Mel Gibson's Icon Productions. His credits include ‘Ripper Street’, ‘Penny Dreadful’, ‘Calvary’ and ‘Brooklyn’. Costume designer Maeve Paterson will also be in attendance. She has extensive experience working across projects such as ‘The General’, ‘The Tiger's Tail’, ‘Jack Taylor: Shot Down’, and ‘A Film with Me in It’. Padraig O’Neill will also be joining the line-up. He is a production designer and art director, known for ‘Garage’, ‘Adam & Paul’ and ‘Savage’.

Director Juanita Wilson will also join the Filmbase panel. Wilson sources new projects for development and is currently writing and directing her own material for Octagon Films. She was selected as one of Variety’s top ten directors to watch in 2011 based on the critical success of her first feature film ‘As If I Am Not There’, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Her short film ‘The Door’, was nominated for an Oscar in 2010.

How to get a Job in Film is a free event and is open to anyone wanting to learn more about the film industry. Places are limited, so you must book your place by emailing info@Filmbase.ie and typing Job in Film Event in the subject bar or by calling Filmbase on 01 679 6716.
