Calls are being made for papers and submissions for the ‘Picteilín’ Creative Media conference ‘Life Through Pixels’ at the Dundalk Institute of Technology, on Monday, November 3rd, 2014. The conference theme is ‘Creative Media and Games Studies: Developing Design, Play and Storytelling’ and the deadline for abstracts is Monday, September 15th, 2014.
The digital media sector is one of the most dynamic sectors of a knowledge economy, with the creative origination that underpins the creative media industries affording much potential for experimentation. This conference aims to provide a platform for Irish and International academics, postgraduate students and practitioners to share knowledge and expand the boundaries of research that pivot on pixels.
Contributions are sought under the following themes:
- Creative Media Content Creation and Technologies
- Creative Pedagogy and Transformative work practices
- Media, Culture, Community and Society
- New Media Narrative Forms
- Game Studies
It is envisioned that there will be short and long academic research papers, practical exhibition installations, poster sessions, games and screenings. Proposal abstracts to a maximum of 350 words are being invited, and they may be accompanied by supporting visual material. Send them to info@picteilin.com. There will be an award presented at the conference for the best submission.
Postgraduate students, academics and practitioners who are not presenting at the conference are also encouraged to attend this event. The conference fee is €30 and there will be an additional €20 fee for an optional social event. Early bird registration will end on September 15th. The early bird registration fee is €20 (send an abstract or email to the address info@picteilin.com before September 15 to register).
