BA (Hons) in Film & Television Production
The aim of this programme is to produce Film & Television Production professionals with the necessary knowledge and skills to work within the Film and Television industry in Ireland and abroad. It is an undergraduate degree with industry-driven modules, some of which will be delivered in block format by industry professionals.
The programme offers training in skills in all aspects of film and television production including camera, sound, lighting, editing and multi-cam TV studio shooting. Based in the Carroll’s building on the DKIT campus, it is equipped with a full HD TV Studio, a screening room, multiple edit suites, multimedia labs, equipment borrowing office, and more. Students are trained on key software packages used in the film & TV industry including Pro-Tools, Avid Media Composer, Photoshop, Movie Magic Budgeting & Scheduling, amongst many more.
BA (Hons) in Communications in Creative Media
The aim of this programme is to produce Creative Media professionals with the necessary knowledge, skills and competencies to work within the varied Creative Media Industries in Ireland and abroad. Part of the nature of these industries is that they are dynamic and innovative; there are continuing updates to terminologies and technologies. The programme merges practical experience in existing and emergent creative media and digital platforms with a user-centered and industry aware approach to design. This balance equips students for the rapidly changing industrial environment.
This undergraduate degree that will create graduates who are idea-driven content designers competent in communicating through a variety of mediums and who have had the space to test out media theories through practical work.
BA In Media Arts & Technologies
The aim of this programme is to equip graduates with the necessary knowledge and core skills to work in a variety of roles within the media arts & technology sectors, particularly in the areas of these sectors where the merging of creative practices and skills utilising media and information technologies are developed. The overall aim is to provide students with core hard and soft digital skills. These skills are highly transferable between the various creative industries.
BA in Performing Arts
If you are serious about a career as a professional actor then you need a course that is going to give you the skills and foster the professionalism that will give you the edge. The programme closely co-operates with the BA(Hons) in Film & Television Production, which means student actors work alongside future film makers in modules which include film theory and history, screenwriting, directing and final film projects. As part of the programme, students are encouraged to develop their own career based skills portfolio, taking advantage of the many opportunities in the Institute to develop extra-curricula skills in fencing, martial arts, singing, ballet, hip-hop as well as voice work on multimedia, music and film projects in the creative hub of the north east.
