Andrew Baird’s feature debut Zone 414 recently wrapped shooting in Belfast before heading to market at the European Film Market in Berlin with worldwide sales handled by Highland Film Group.

The Sci-Fi mystery stars Guy Pearce alongside Italian Model/Actress Matilda Lutz, Olwen Fouéré (Mandy, Sea Fever), Antonia Campbell Hughes (Rare Beasts, Never Grow Old) and Travis Fimmel (Vikings, Lean on Pete).

Set in the near future in a colony of state-of-the-art humanoid robots, Zone 414 sees Pearce play private investigator David Carmichael, who has been hired by the colony's creator to bring his missing daughter home. He teams up with Jane (Lutz), a highly advanced and self-aware A.I., to help track her down. Moving through the dangerous iron jungle, the two rapidly piece together the mystery, uncovering a crime that leads them to question the origins of Zone 414 and the true purpose behind the "City of Robots".

Baird directs off a script by Comic, film and TV writer Bryan Edward Hill (Titans, Ash VS. Evil Dead, Batman). Zone 414 is produced by Martin Brennan, Jib Polhemus, Baird and Deborah Kolar, and executive produced by Mark Huffam.

Baird graduated with double honours degrees in both Art Direction and Direction from the National Film School of Ireland. Following his debut commercial for Levi’s jeans, Baird’s caught the eye of the legendary Roger Corman, who sought him out to design two films and direct another.

Since then he has worked over 150 campaigns and music videos with top agencies, labels, brands, artists and directors for Bud Light, Burger King, Nissan, Eminem, Ke$ha, Interscope Records, Universal Studios, Warner Bros, and Sony Music Entertainment.

He has done several, high-profile long-form pieces for heavy metal bands Korn, and Avenged Sevenfold, as well as title track off the Weeknd’s debut album, Kiss Land, inspired by the dark world of Philip K. Dick (Blade Runner, Minority Report, A Scanner Darkly), which lead to a deal with ICM Partners for Zone 414 (Then called City of Robots).

Baird’s work has garnered awards and nominations from the Institute of Creative Advertising & Design (ICAD) in Ireland, Irish Film Board (now Screen Ireland), Clermont-Ferrand in France, and his short film Up The Country received theatrical distribution in the U.S., playing at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood as well as selling to several markets including France, the UK, Germany, Italy, and Canada.
