The cast of 'Ripper Street'
Known for productions such as ‘Ripper Street’ and ‘Quirke’, the former military barracks in Island Bridge was a prime setting to contextualise successful period dramas filmed in Ireland.

Real estate investment and services firm Kennedy Wilson is to develop the 13 acre site, as the second phase of an ongoing project. Having initially purchased the site for €82M in 2013, the firm have planning permission to add a further 800 units to the Clancy Quay apartment.

‘Ripper Street’ stars Matthew Macfadyen as Detective Inspector Edmund Reid, whose story revolves around the Jack the Ripper killings. The series has enjoyed a host of IFTA and BAFTA nominations since its inception in 2012, including an IFTA win for Irish Cinematographer P.J. Dillon in 2014.

‘Quirke’ is another crime drama filmed in the red brick streets of Clancy Barracks, starring Irish actor Gabriel Byrne as Chief Pathologist Quirke in 1950s Dublin. The mini-series also stars ‘Tiger Raid’ star Brian Gleeson.
