BeActive Confirms New Projects for the Irish Market
25 Mar 2014 : Aisling Newton
BeActive’s presence in the Irish film market is beginning to heat up as it announces two new projects titled ‘Road to Revolution’ and ‘The Stand Ups’.

‘Road to Revolution’, produced by Nuno Bernardo, follows the journey of three Portuguese journalists who travel through Tunisia, Syria, Egypt and Libya, some two years after the uprising. Once there, they meet the men and women who have experienced the consequences of revolution first-hand. The feature length documentary by Tiago Carrasco and Joáo Fontes is directed and edited by Dánia Lucas. ‘Road to Revolution’ is being negotiated with several TV channels worldwide and will also be presented at the next MIPTV.

The Dublin based studio company is also about to begin production on new Irish comedy ‘The Stand Ups’. Bernardo will direct and filming is expected to commence in Dublin during April.

Irish Sci-fi movie ‘Collider’, written by Nuno and directed by Jason Butler, had its premiere in Ireland last January and is now nominated for Best Digital Program at this year’s Emmy Awards. The co-production between Ireland and Portugal is based on a comic book whose action unfolds in Geneva. It is beActive’s first foray into the world of science fiction and fantasy; a multiplatform project that encompasses a comic book, one webseries, two smartphone games and all culminates in the feature film. The movie was produced using the Irish section 481 tax incentives and Portuguese fund, FICA.

The ninth edition of the International Digital Emmy Awards at MIPTV will take place on Monday, April 7, 2014.
