'Trivia' Production Begins on Second Series
02 Apr 2012 : By Steve Cummins
Adam (Keith McErlean) and Molly (Janet Moran)
The second series of Irish comedy drama ‘Trivia’ has begun filming in Co Kildare. Principal photography for Grand Pictures’ six-part series got underway last week in Celbridge with Tom Hall (Bachelors Walk) once again returning to direct, while Fionn Comerford (Camera Op, Life’s a Breeze, Roy) joins the series as director of photography.

The shoot is scheduled to last five weeks in total with filming also due to take place in Maynooth. The second series is once again written by Damien Owens and produced by Paul Donovan (The Race). It is due for broadcast on RTE One this Autumn.

David Pearse will reprise his role as Lawrence, the trivia obsessed lead. Also returning are Janet Moran, as Lawrence’s girlfriend Molly, and Keith McErlean (Raw, Bachelors Walk) as Lawrence’s long suffering best friend Adam.

Comedienne Aisling Bea joins the cast to plays Adam’s new love interest, while Aoibhinn McGinnity (Love Hate) also returns as quiz night MC Tara.

Series two picks up on 30-something Lawrence as he leaves home and moves in with his new girlfriend Molly. Lawrence is now the main breadwinner but things start to quickly unravel for him. Can their relationship survive as Lawrence copes with his new situation and the lure of the pub quiz?

Michael Garland (Death Of A Superhero) will executive produce while Ailish McElmeel (Death Of A Superhero) is the series’ co-producer. Other crew include line producer Jo Homewood; production co-ordinator Katrina McBriarty; production designer Lucy Van Lonkhuyzen; costume designer Suzanne Keogh; location manager Grant Bobbett; make-up designer Patsy Giles and hairdresser Noel Sutton.

Post-production will be carried out by Screen Scene, while ‘Trivia’ is part funded by the Sound and Vision scheme of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland and Section 481.
