UK Talent Agency Troika rebrands following departure of co-founders
06 May 2020 : News Desk
UK Talent Agency Troika represent a number of Irish actors.
Co-founders of the London-based agency Torika, Conor McCaughan and Michael Duff, have left the business they started 15 years ago, now one of the U.K.’s top talent firms.

Collectively, McCaughan and Duff’s client rosters represent some of the agency’s top names, including Irish actors Jamie Dornan, Michael Fassbender, Barry Keoghan, Michael Smiley, Charlie Murphy, Conleth Hill, Ronan Raftery, Chris Walley, and Pat Shortt.

It is still unclear as to the next steps for both agents, as it’s believed that the duo’s contracts will officially conclude at the end of the year. More recently, McCaughan has moved into a producing role, setting up DMC Film with client Michael Fassbender, and producing films including Macbethand Slow Westthat the Irish actor also starred in. This year DMC co-produced Nick Rowland’s Irish-set crime drama, Calm with Horses, alongside Element Pictures. The business struck a first-look film production deal with New Republic Pictures in 2019.

The agents’ departure also comes alongside a rebranding of the talent agency. The next evolution of the London-based Agency will follow three years of mergers & acquisitions upheaval, which saw the business merge with management outfit James Grant Group (JGG) in 2017.  JGG’s clients spanned entertainment, music and sports helping to diversify the merged business.

In 2018, JGG was majority-acquired by private equity firm Trilantic Europe and rebranded as YMU Group. Collectively, the mega-agency’s divisions span London, New York, Washington and Manchester, and include JGG, Deckstar, Furniss Lawton, Hall or Nothing and Impact Sports Management — all of which have operated under the YMU brand since early 2019. The only part of the business that remained distinct was Troika.

However, moving forward, Troika will be further integrated into YMU, and is to rebrand as YMU Drama. The agency will continue to operate with its remaining five directors, which include co-founder  Melanie Rockcliffe, who counts Graham Norton among her clients.
