The Blizzards - Behind The Music acquired by RTE Player

The tell-all mockumentary-style short film documents the band’s exploits over the past year and has previously premiered in Dublin’s at the Irish Film Institute (IFI) Documentary Film Festival and screened at the Galway Film Fleadh in July.

“The reaction to the film has been fantastic,” said director Jeff Doyle. “After the Galway Film Fleadh, the IFI put the film in their October programme where it screened in the newly refurbished Screen 2 cinema to a sold-out audience.”

Now available on the RTÉ Player, The Blizzards: Behind The Music gives audiences a chance to get up close and personal with multi-award winning Irish power punk-pop band The Blizzards.

“It's invaluable really,” said Doyle when discussing the RTE Player acquisition. “There’s a whole generation now who don't even watch television, everything they watch is on digital platforms so having our national broadcasters digital platform is huge.”

“You don't have to wait for your audience to sit in front of their TV's at a certain time. You're beaming straight into their pockets. Everyone involved in the mockumentary is hugely grateful to the RTE Player team.”

The Blizzards: Behind The Music follows Bressie, Dec, Justin and Louize and there, by all accounts, unorthodox, manager Duncan as they navigate the challenges of the music industry. The film features an array of big names sharing their impressions of The Blizzards, from Picture This to Laura Whitmore to Stormy Daniels.

The trailer for the mockumentary shows the trials and tribulations faced by the band as they prepare the release of their third album in an effort to regain relevance once again. However, they are not aided by the efforts of their incompetent ‘manager’ Duncan Browne.

The film consists of a small production team with Dublin filmmaker Jeffrey Doyle directing, shooting and editing and Chris Garrett on lighting and sound. The story was written by Doyle and Alisa Kuzmina. The film was produced by Doyle and The Blizzards.
