Starting September 2019 and based in the Gaeltacht, this traineeship is for new entrants with a real passion for film and TV, who hope to build a career in the screen sector and learn through Irish. The traineeship aims to produce the kind of technically and creatively multi-skilled individual that is required in a rapidly developing industry.

This programme has been developed by industry for industry, and participants on the programme will be trained and supported within film and TV companies and in the class room. The five core competencies covered by the programme will be:

Applicants should have, a leaving certificate or equivalent, a good verbal and written command of the English/Irish language (please note classes in Irish will be provided), a passion for working in film and TV, ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, the ability to work on their own initiative, computer skills, and a strong work ethic and motivation.

Speaking about the traineeship, Eithne Nic Dhonnchadha, director of Further Education and Training, GRETB said:

“Ensuring our programmes are linked to industry is key to us here in GRETB and we are delighted to offer this traineeship in partnership with Screen Skills Ireland in supporting the growth of the TV and Film sector.”

Gareth Lee, Manager of Screen Skills Ireland, added:

“This industry-focused traineeship will enable participants to gain the essential skills and practical knowledge they need to thrive as new entrants in the screen sector. Traineeships like this one are essential for developing new talent, which will enable the sector to continue to grow over the coming years.”

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Thursday, September 5th 2019.
