19 Apr 2017 : Katie McNeice
The upcoming fourth season of the series which is produced by Caryn Mandabach and Tiger Aspect Drama is as always led by Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby. Fresh Irish faces are set to join the forty year old actor, who was recently awarded an IFTA for Best Male Lead in Drama.

Charlie Murphy who is in turn a recent award recipient from the Irish Academy for her performance as Ann Gallagher in Happy Valley is among the new additions. Game of Thrones star Aidan Gillen is also seen in the line-up of new cast members.

Irish director David Caffrey (Love/Hate, Line of Duty) is on board this season, while Belfast-born Packy Lee (King of the Travellers) is reprising his role as Johnny Dogs.

Non-Irish talent which has joined for this season also includes Oscar-winning Adrien Brody (The Pianist). Filming began on season four in Liverpool in the last week of March. It can be expected to release in late 2017.

When he receives a mysterious letter on Christmas Eve, Thomas Shelby realises that the Peaky Blinders are in danger of annihilation. As the enemy closes in, Shelby flees his country house and returns to the streets of Small Heath, Birmingham where a desperate fight for survival begins.

Creator, Steven Knight:
“We have a dream team gathered for series four of Peaky Blinders, coming to us for love of the series which is great.  Adrien Brody, Aidan Gillen and Charlie Murphy give us a wealth of talent to work with.”

Piers Wenger, Controller BBC Drama:
"The stellar cast Peaky Blinders continues to attract is testament to Steven Knight's incredible storytelling and the world-class production values of this original series. To welcome these actors to this BBC Two series alongside the rest of the show’s outstanding cast is incredibly exciting."
