Actors Ardal O’Hanlon and Pat Shortt have joined the cast of Irish independent feature film ‘Twice Shy’ which is currently filming in Ireland.

‘Twice Shy’ is a modern coming of age drama, that centres around a young couple who set off on a road trip from Ireland to London as the result of an unplanned pregnancy. The film will tackle the topical issue of abortion in Ireland as it tells the story of how a young couple are forced to go to London to have an abortion.

Ardal O’Hanlon, who is currently voicing the character of Dad in Geronimo’s animated kids show ‘Nelly and Nora’, will play a single father suffering from depression in rural Ireland. Other recent roles of O’Hanlon’s include one episode of the highly rated British show ‘Cucumber’ with the actor also well known to audiences for his comedic performances in ‘Father Ted’ and ‘My Hero’.

Co-star Pat Shortt is also well-known for his comedy work in television shows such as ‘Killinascully’ and ‘Mattie’ but he has also delved into dramatic material over the past decade, most notably in ‘Calvary’ and ‘Garage’, with the latter film landing him an IFTA Award for Best Actor. Other supporting actors include Paul Ronan (‘Love/Hate’, ‘The Devil’s Own’).

‘Twice Shy’ will be director Tom Ryan’s second feature, which he makes after the success of his award winning debut film ‘Trampoline’. Tom has teamed up with London based producer Fionn Greger to produce it. The two first worked together in London on short films and TV commercials.

Shane Murray Corcoran (‘King Arthur’, ‘Angelas Ashes’) will play the lead character of Andy O Meara, whose girlfriend, Maggie Collins, played by Iseult Casey, surprises him with the news that she is unexpectedly pregnant.

Filming is currently underway on location in Tipperary, Dublin and London.

‘Twice Shy’ is an independent Irish feature film and will hit the festival circuit in Spring 2016.
