Tom Vaughan Lawlor is to star alongside Bryan Cranston in ‘The Infiltrator’, a film about an undercover US agent who embeds himself with Pablo Escobar's drugs cartel.

Vaughan Lawlor has previously won acclaim and two IFTA Awards for his role as gang boss Nidge in the ‘Love/Hate’. He has also starred in the Charlie Haughey biopic ‘Charlie’ which aired earlier this year and also has a role in Jim Sheridan’s ‘The Secret Scripture’ which is due for release later this year.

In the film, which will be directed by Brad Furman and which will also star Diane Kruger, Cranston will play undercover agent Robert Mazur while Vaughan Lawlor will play Steve Cook, Mazur’s supervisor.

The film is slated for a 2016 release, and shooting is believed to be taking place in London, Paris and Florida.

Diarmuid Murtagh cast in action-thriller ‘The Lake’

County Cavan actor Diarmuid Murtagh has been cast in the action-thriller film ‘The Lake’, which will be directed by ‘Taken’ helmer Luc Besson.

He has also previously worked on the mini-series ‘Quirke’ alongside Gabriel Byrne and Aisling Franciosi.

In ‘The Lake’ he will star alongside recent Oscar winner JK Simmons and Charlie Bewey. The story of the film focuses on a group of Navy SEALs who attempt to solve an age-old mystery involving a treasure underneath a lake in war-torn Serbia.

Murtagh’s role is described as one of the four leads in the film.

Ciaran Hinds confirmed for season three of ‘Shetland’

Northern Irish actor Ciaran Hinds has been confirmed for season three of the hit BBC Scotland crime drama ‘Shetland’.
