Production sound mixer Ronan Hill has just won the Cinema Audio Society (CAS) Award for Outstanding Achievement In Sound Mixing Television Series One Hour.
He won for his work in the ‘Game of Thrones’ season four episode “The Children”.
This is the sixth award in total that Hill has received for his acclaimed work on the HBO show – which is shot in Northern Ireland. He also won the CAS Award last year and last month won his second consecutive TEC (Technical Excellence and Creativity) Award for outstanding creative achievement (Television Sound Production).
Hill attended the ceremony which took place in Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles on February 14th. Speaking to IFTN after the win – Hill said: ‘I am delighted to receive this prestigious award voted for by my peers. I’d like to thank my team - Boom operator Simon Kerr, Sound assistant Jonny Waite and trainee Daniel McCabe.’
Hill’s work on the show has also been recognized over the past few years at the Primetime Emmy Awards, with the sound mixer garnering a nomination last year for the ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season four episode ‘The Watchers On The Wall’, after previously winning the Primetime Emmy Award for his work on the season two episode ‘Blackwater’.
