Northern Irish presenter Christine Bleakley is to front a six-part travel series for ITV from Irish production company Big Mountain Productions.
The broadcaster has commissioned ‘The Wild Atlantic Way’, in which the former host of ‘The One Show’ will travel across the west of Ireland.
Directed by Darragh Byrne, the show was posted at Windmill Lane Pictures. The DOP of the project was Ronan Fox, sound was completed by Daniel Gaughran and the production manager was Joanne O’ Hagan.
It was commissioned by ITV factual chief Richard Klein and Katy Thorogood, factual commissioning editor and exec produced by Philip McGovern and Jane Kelly. Frank Agnew is the series producer.
The commission was revealed at the Belfast Media Festival, which saw keynote address from BBC boss Danny Cohen and Channel 4 chief creative officer Jay Hunt.
Bleakley, who is from County Down, Northern Ireland, will explore the climbs and walks from Malin Head in Donegal to Clonakilty in Cork.
It is the latest UK commission for the Northern Irish indie, which made ‘Addicts’ Symphony’ for Channel 4 in August.
Executive Producer Jane Kelly said: ‘We are delighted to win this commission from ITV and we’re really enjoying working with Christine on her home turf and the cream of Ireland’s broadcast professionals.’
It will air in 2015.
