Daily Bite: Kristen Stewart Is World’s Highest Paid Female Star

In today’s Daily Bite, news that Kristen Stewart is the world’s highest earning actress; the BBC has delayed its YouView internet TV service, and the London Film Festival announces its dates for this year.

Kristen Stewart is highest paid female actress in the world… ‘Twilight’ actress Kristen Stewart has topped the annual Forbes list of the world’s highest paid female film stars for the first time thanks to the financial success of the Twilight Saga. The 22-year-old made an estimated $34.5m (€27.3m) between May 2011 and May 2012. Her closest rival in the earnings stakes was Cameron Diaz, $34m (€26.9m). Stewart is fourth in the overall list of actors and actress according to Forbes’ most recent estimate of the earnings of male actors. Only Leonardo DiCaprio at $77m (€60.9), Johnny Depp at $50m (€39.5m) and Adam Sandler ($40m (€31.6m) currently earn more than her.

BBC delays YouView launch… Britain’s new free-to-air IPTV service YouView, which has been backed by broadcasters BBC, ITV and Channel 4, among others, will not be up and running by its London Olympic Games deadline on July 27. It is now though that the YouView set-top boxes, which provide access to digital terrestrial TV and radio online, will not be available until the last quarter of this year.

BFI London Film Festival sets dates… The 56th BFI London Film Festival will take place over October 10-21. The festival will be four days shorter than usual, although screenings and venues will increase this year. The deadline for short film entries is tomorrow (June 22), with the deadline for features deadline on July 6.
