The latest instalment in the Harry Potter series, ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’, is set to receive its Irish premiere on Monday 13 July in Dublin. The event will be attended by Irish cast member Evanna Lynch and co-star Matthew Lewis, who play characters Luna Lovegood and Neville Longbottom respectively.
800 fans will descend on the Savoy cinema to watch the film, which is the sixth screen adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s hugely successful magical series of books.
20 year old Matthew Lewis has appeared in the ‘Harry Potter’ films since the first feature was released in 2001, whilst 17 year old Lynch landed the part of Luna Lovegood in the 2007 film ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’. Both actors will appear in the final two films which are currently shooting the UK and scheduled to wrap April 2010.
‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ reunites director David Yates (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, 2007) and producers David Heyman and David Barron. New comers to this summer’s blockbuster include Helen McCrory (Enduring Love) and Academy Award winner Jim Broadbent (Iris).
‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ will be released to the general public on Wednesday 15th July 2009.
