IFTA has a slate of upcoming events, including screenings, Q&A sessions and the latest in its ‘In Conversation’ series.

Cast and crew in attendance for Q&A sessions include ‘Fir Bolg’ actor Sean McGinley and Director Peter Foott from the much-anticipated 'Young Offenders,' which was recently praised by TV and radio presenter Graham Norton as capturing, "...everything which makes Ireland so special."

‘Fir Bolg’ Members Screening and Q&A

First is a preview screening of the first two episodes of new six-part TG4 series ‘Fir Bolg’, written by Brian Reddin and directed by Tom Sullivan. This exclusive first look at the series will take place in the Sugar Club on Tuesday August 30th.

‘Fir Bolg’ is set to air on TG4 in early November 2016, and features a stellar Irish cast lead by Sean McGinley and an impressive collection of guest actors including Amy Huberman (Striking Out), Brendan Grace and Liam Cunningham (Game of Thrones).

Sean McGinley, Aonghus McAnally, Don Wycherley, Fiachna Ó Braonáin, Patrick Bergin, Paddy Courtney, Brendan Grace and more are confirmed to attend a post-screening Q&A session.

25 years after an acrimonious split, Ireland’s greatest traditional band decide to hit the road again. But, with the absence of their founding member, the road to a happy reunion is far from smooth. This series follows the Fir Bolg as they attempt to recapture a moment in time amid bitter breakups and sweet reconciliations.

‘A Date For Mad Mary’ Preview Screening

Seana Kerslake leads the cast in Darren Thornton’s feature, which shared the award for Best Feature Film with ‘Young Offenders’ at the 2016 Galway Film Fleadh. This preview screening takes place at 7pm at Light House Cinema Smithfield, on Wednesday August 31st. ‘A Date for Mad Mary’ releases to Irish cinemas on Friday September 2nd.

‘Mad’ Mary McArdle returns to Drogheda after a short spell in prison for something she’d rather forget. Back home, everything and everyone has changed. Her best friend, Charlene, is about to get married and Mary is maid of honour. When Charlene refuses Mary a ‘plus one’ on the grounds that she probably couldn’t find a date, Mary becomes determined to prove her wrong.

‘Young Offenders’ First Look and Q&A with Director Peter Foott

Peter Foott’s debut feature releases to Irish cinemas on Friday, September 16th in the widest cinema release of any Irish film so far this year. Foott will be in attendance at Light House Cinema, Smithfield on Wednesday, September 7th for a post-screening Q&A session. The screening is scheduled to start at 6:30pm.

‘Young Offenders’ has earned the Irish director praise from renowned TV and radio presenter Graham Norton, who stated:
"A classic movie double act is born! It captures everything that makes Ireland so special - it's very funny, outrageous, and full of heart. Sell all your cocaine and buy a ticket to see this film!"

‘Young Offenders’ follows the cross-county journey of two teenage scoundrels (Conor & Jock) as they hatch a plan to escape their troubled family lives by finding a bale of cocaine that may or may not have washed up on the West Cork coast and selling it for some quick cash.
