Filmmakers from all over Ireland are invited to submit applications for the 48 hour short film challenge at the Clones Film Festival, which runs from the 23rd to the 26th October
In association with the Clones Credit Union and operating in its 8th year, the competition challenges people to cast, shoot and cut their short film in just 48 hours. Five successful applicants will be chosen before the festival and will be given a bursary of 400 euro in order to shoot their films, with the overall winner being given the Francie Award (named after the main character Francie Brady in the 1996 film ‘The Butcher Boy’). The winning team is then to receive a free day of post-production at the digital studios of Windmill Lane Recording Studio.
Established in 2001, the Clones Film Festival aims to present a range of International and Irish film in both feature and short formats. Also taking place over the four-day festival will be a host of talks and other events including a nightly Festival Club. The opening night will screen two short films; ‘The Gloaming’ and ‘Volkswagen Joe’.
