Brendan Gleeson joins cast of ‘Live By Night’
Irish actor Brendan Gleeson has joined Ben Affleck, Sienna Miller, Scott Eastwood, Elle Fanning and Chris Cooper in Affleck’s adaptation of Dennis Lehane’s novel ‘Live By Night’.
Affleck will direct from his own script which tells the story of Joe Coughlin (Affleck), a police captain’s son who, with his brother Danny (Scott Eastwood) finds himself caught up in organised crime as part of a rum-smuggling organization that transports booze from Cuba to Boston via Florida.
Gleeson will play Thomas Coughlin, the father of Ben Affleck and Scott Eastwood’s characters.
It is the latest in a number of big roles for Gleeson including Ron Howard’s ‘In The Heart of the Sea’ which hits cinemas later this year and also stars fellow Irish actors Cillian Murphy and Sam Keeley. He has also just finished shooting ‘Assassins Creed’ with Michael Fassbender. Other recent roles of Gleeson’s include Oscar nominated animated film ‘Song of the Sea’, Paul Mercier’s thriller ‘Pursuit’ and Oscar contender ‘Suffragette’.
Michael Fassbender confirmed for ‘Prometheus 2’
Michael Fassbender has been confirmed to return as android David in Ridley Scott’s upcoming ‘Prometheus’ sequel entitled ‘Alien Covenant’.
Fassbender, who returns with ‘Prometheus’ protagonist Noomi Rapace, drew widespread acclaim in 2012 for his performance. ‘Alien Covenant’ is the second part of an ‘Aliens’ prequel trilogy and will be released in 2017.
Fassbender has also just finished filming video-game adaptation ‘Assassin’s Creed’ and is also in pre-production of crime drama ‘The Snowman’.
2015 has been a good year for Fassbender with his performances in ‘Slow West’ and ‘Macbeth’ universally praised. His portrayal of late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs in Danny Boyle’s ‘Steve Jobs’ (in cinemas now) is been tipped by many publications in the US a front-runner for the Best Actor Oscar at next year’s ceremony.
