In an interview with the Sunday World, Colin Farrell confirmed the rumours that started circulating last summer that he will have a role in the next series of ‘True Detective’. Farrell is the only cast member confirmed so far for the second series of the HBO hit.
The actor said that he was “so excited” to be working on the second series, stating, “I know very little about it, but we're shooting in the environs of Los Angeles which is great. It means I get to stay at home and see the kids.” He is committed to eight episodes, involving a four to five month shoot.
Farrell also said that the names of other cast members are being kept under wraps. Rachel McAdams (‘The Notebook’, ‘About Time’) and Elisabeth Moss (‘Mad Men’, ‘Girl, Interrupted’) are believed to be in contention for the role of a “no nonsense” Californian sheriff who becomes a gambler and alcoholic.
Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson were the stars of the first series, which won five Primetime Emmys and received ten nominations. The second series will consist of an entirely new cast. Series creator Nic Pizzolatto has said that the new season would be about “hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system.”
Farrell’s credits include ‘Phone Booth’, ‘In Bruges’ and ‘Alexander’. He stars in ‘Miss Julie’ opposite Jessica Chastain, which was filmed in Co Fermanagh and recently had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, and he recently completed filming on ‘The Lobster’, shot in Ireland earlier this year.
In more casting news, Irish actress Amy Huberman will be a guest star in an upcoming episode of the BBC series ‘Silent Witness’. The thirty five year old actress is known for her roles in ‘The Clinic’ and ‘Threesome.’
