Jennifer Maguire, best known for her prominent role in RTÉ series ‘Republic of Telly’, is set to return to TV in a pilot for the international broadcaster. The latest nine episodes long season of the IFTA Award-winning hit comedy series finished airing on RTÉ Two last May.
Originally from Dublin, Maguire has been offered a TV pilot for a brand new production by the heads at RTÉ. The production is still in development, but it is expected that she will film the pilot in the coming months. It has been said that the series will be a new and different kind of show than what Maguire normally does.
Earlier this year, Jennifer Maguire starred alongside Katherine Lynch in a heavily female cast in ‘The Centre’. The Baby Cow Productions sit com followed the daily life and tribulations of St Bartholomew’s Community Centre, a grim local authority building in the heart of Fieldstown, Dublin. The community centre hosted a number of unusual programmes and was staffed by several quirky individuals. It completed airing last April.
Maguire presented ‘One Night Stand’ in 2010, which saw her travel to a different city or town in each episode with three mates who would participate in a flash mob date to find the man or woman of their dreams. She also starred in ‘The Fear’ alongside Hilary Rose, who she also worked with on ‘Republic of Telly’ and ‘The Centre’, in a six episode hidden camera show in which members of the Irish public were perturbed by bizarre characters. The show had graphics supplied by Emberlight.
Jennifer Maguire recently took on the post of co-anchor on 2FM’s breakfast show alongside Bernard O’Shea and Keith Walsh. This new project will see her return to the small screen.
