Two more Irish actors have been added to the cast of Jimi Hendrix biopic ‘All Is By My Side’ which is currently shooting in Dublin and Wicklow.
Galway-born Jade Yourell (Fair City, Happy Ever Afters) has been cast as Roberta Goldstein, a friend and muse to both Hendrix and Keith Richards throughout the 60’s.
Danny McColgan (13 Steps Down), son of ‘Riverdance’ director John McColgan and producer Moya Doherty (Riverdance/ Tyrone Productions), will play musician and friend of Hendrix, Eric Clapton.
They join fellow Irish actor Laurence Kinlan (Love/Hate, The Guard) who has been cast as a character named John, as well as British actors Imogen Poots (Jane Eyre) and Hayley Atwell (Captain America), who will play Hendrix and Rolling Stone Keith Richards’ former girlfriend, Linda Keith. British newcomer Ashley Charles has been cast as a young Keith Richards.
As exclusively revealed on IFTN last month, Outkast rapper Andre 3000 will play the lead as a young Jimi Hendrix in a biopic about the rock star before he was famous.
The feature will document Hendrix’s life in England between the period 1966 and 1967, charting his rise to international fame. John Ridley, writer of ‘Three Kings’ and ‘U-Turn’, is directing, with Dublin-based Subotica Entertainment co-producing with Darko Entertainment and Matador Pictures.
Among the key Irish crew working on the project are line producer Donna Eperon (Love Eternal, The Other Side of Sleep); assistant art director Nenazoma McNamee (Dark Touch); cinematographer Tim Fleming (Once, Citadel); hair stylist Lorraine Glynn Whelan (Breakfast On Pluto, Albert Nobbs); make-up artist Morna Ferguson (In America, The Guard); prop buyer Sarah Kingston (Byzantium, The Guard); Ele Wood (The Other Side of Sleep) and art department trainee Julia Davin-Power (Love Eternal).
Leonie Pendergast (Raw, What Richard Did) is costume designer, while Dan Birch (Camelot, Parked, The Tudors) is on location sound. Other crew on-board include English production designer Paul Cross (Spooks, Luther).
